About this role
A Senior Hardware & Networking Engineer oversees an organization's IT infrastructure. They are responsible for designing network architecture, configuring core hardware (switches, routers, firewalls), ensuring maximum system uptime, securing data against threats, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Design: Plan, install, and scale Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and VPNs to meet organizational needs.
Hardware Management: Configure and maintain network devices, servers, CCTV systems, and printers.
Network Security: Implement firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and data backup protocols to protect the infrastructure.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Resolve escalated network issues, outages, and latency problems.
Monitoring & Upgrades: Continuously monitor bandwidth performance and perform routine hardware/software upgrades.
Team Leadership: Manage IT teams, delegate daily tasks to junior technicians, and maintain vendor relationships.
Required skills
Deep Hardware Knowledge: Proficiency with switches, routers, cabling, and enterprise CPUs. Certifications: Certifications like Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CCNP, CompTIA, or VMware Certified Professional are highly preferred. Operating Systems: Advanced understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, JUNOS) and server administration. Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, crisis management, and the ability to train staff. Educational & Experience Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related fields. Experience: Typically requires 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT support and network administration
