An Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Mechanical Maintenance for a power plant (such as a thermal, AFBC, or CFBC plant) is a senior-level leadership role responsible for overseeing all mechanical assets, maximizing plant reliability, and minimizing downtime. Job Overview • Position Title: AGM / DGM – Mechanical Maintenance • Industry: Power Generation (Thermal / AFBC / CFBC / Captive Power Plants) • Reporting To: General Manager (GM) / Plant Head • Experience Required: Typically 10 to 15+ years in thermal/power plant mechanical maintenance Key Roles & Responsibilities 1. Maintenance Management & Strategy • Boiler, Turbine & Generator (BTG): Lead maintenance for high-pressure boilers (AFBC/CFBC), steam turbines, condensers, and auxiliary systems. • Balance of Plant (BOP): Oversee rotating and static equipment including ID/FD/PA fans, cooling tower fans, air compressors, pumps, gearboxes, coal handling plants (CHP), and ash handling plants (AHP). • Maintenance Types: Drive preventive, predictive, condition-based (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis), and breakdown maintenance programs. • Data & KPI Tracking: Monitor key performance indicators such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), plant availability, and reliability benchmarks. 2.
