Mechanical Maintenance – Fabrication Plant Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Technician Department: Maintenance Industry: Steel / Fabrication Plant Job Responsibilities: Maintain and troubleshoot fabrication plant machinery and mechanical equipment. Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance. Handle maintenance of welding machines, cutting machines, hydraulic systems, compressors, cranes, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, motors, and other mechanical equipment. Identify mechanical faults and carry out repairs to minimize production downtime. Inspect bearings, shafts, couplings, chains, belts, gears, lubrication systems, and hydraulic components. Plan and execute routine maintenance schedules. Coordinate with production and electrical teams during breakdowns and maintenance activities. Maintain spare-parts inventory and coordinate with stores for required materials. Ensure proper lubrication and alignment of rotating equipment. Maintain daily maintenance reports, breakdown records, and preventive-maintenance records. Follow plant safety procedures, PPE requirements, and permit-to-work systems. Supervise fitters, welders, and contract maintenance workers when required. Support installation, commissioning, and modification of new machinery. Required Skills: Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and fabrication equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to read mechanical drawings. Knowledge of welding, gas cutting, fitting, alignment, and basic machining. Troubleshooting and breakdown-handling skills. Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices. Good communication and team-management skills. Qualification: ITI / Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: Typically 2–8 years in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a steel, fabrication, structural, or heavy-engineering plant.
