A General Manager of a Steel Melting Shop (GM - SMS) oversees total plant operations, production targets, quality control, and safety protocols for furnaces and continuous casting.Core ResponsibilitiesProduction Management: Direct daily, weekly, and monthly output plans for the melting shop, Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), and Continuous Casting Machine (CCM).Quality & Yield Control: Monitor chemical consistency, steel temperature, and metallurgical specifications while reducing defects.Cost & Energy Optimization: Control power consumption per ton (kWh/Ton), minimize process loss, and lower tap-to-tap times.Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict statutory, environmental, and plant safety standards through audits and toolbox talks.Maintenance Coordination: Oversee preventive maintenance schedules with engineering teams to minimize machine downtime.Requirements & QualificationsExperience: 15 to 20+ years in steelmaking operations, with significant tenure managing induction or electric arc furnaces.Education: Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering.
