About this role
A professional boiler operator controls and maintains industrial or commercial heating systems, steam generators, and auxiliary equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Monitoring: Track water levels, steam pressure, temperature, and fuel consumption by reading gauges, meters, and computerized control panels.Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine inspections, clean filters and burner nozzles, execute blowdowns, and replace defective valves, gaskets, or gauges.Water Treatment: Test boiler water chemistry (pH, hardness, total dissolved solids) and add appropriate chemical treatments to prevent corrosion and scaling.Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols, test safety devices routinely, and maintain comprehensive daily operational logs
Required skills
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.Licensure & Certification: Valid state or regional boiler/pressure vessel operator license (e.g., low-pressure or high-pressure certification).Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting abilities, and familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials (over 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
