About this role
A Power Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily generation, safety, maintenance, and staff performance of a power facility to ensure reliable and cost-effective electricity or steam production.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise Plant Operations: Manage daily shift activities, monitor control room and field systems, and track energy output to meet grid or facility demands.Maintain Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to environmental permits, safety regulations (like OSHA), and regulatory standards.Manage Maintenance & Spares: Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for boilers, turbines, and electrical systems, coordinating annual shutdowns and spare parts inventories.Lead Personnel: Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate plant engineers, operators, and maintenance technicians.Budget & Resource Control: Monitor operational costs, manage departmental budgets, and optimize resource utilization.Handle Emergencies: Lead response protocols during equipment breakdowns, system alarms, or critical operational incidents
Required skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent technical experience).Experience: 5+ years in power generation, large-scale manufacturing, or heavy industrial plants, including 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) systems, SCADA/automation controls, and risk-based asset management.Soft Skills: Strong leadership, crisis management, cost-analysis, and cross-departmental communication
