A Fitter for a power plant installs, maintains, and repairs heavy mechanical equipment like turbines, boilers, pumps, and valves to keep the facility running safely and efficiently.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Repair: Perform routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance on boilers, turbines, pumps, motors, and conveyor systems.Installation & Alignment: Assemble, fit, and align heavy machinery and high-pressure piping using precision tools.Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical blueprints to guide assembly and repairs.Safety Compliance: Follow strict plant safety rules, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and handle power tools safely
Required skills
Education: Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certification in the Fitter trade or a related mechanical field.Experience: 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in thermal power plants or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, measuring gauges, and basic welding or pipefitting.Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects and work in challenging environments like high heat or confined spaces
