FITTER/SR. FITTER POWER PLANT

A Fitter in a power plant (or OR. Fitter, often indicating an Operator/Runner or specialized maintenance technician) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and alignment of heavy industrial equipment such as turbines, boilers, pumps, and conveyors. They ensure operational efficiency and safety by reading blueprints, utilizing precision tools, and performing mechanical repairs. Key Job Responsibilities Maintenance & Repair: Performing routine, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on heavy machinery, including pumps, motors, valves, and conveyor systems. Installation & Alignment: Assembling and aligning new machinery and structural components based on technical drawings and blueprints. Fabrication & Machining: Using workshop equipment like milling machines, lathes, drills, welding gear, and cutting torches to modify or create metal parts. Troubleshooting: Identifying, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctions to minimize downtime in the power plant. Safety Adherence: Strict compliance with health and safety protocols (e.g., PPE, lock-out/tag-out) when working around high-pressure or high-temperature machinery. Inspection: Inspecting structural systems and components to ensure they meet engineering standards.
