A comprehensive Job Description for a Senior Manager / Assistant General Manager (AGM) - Electrical in a Ferro Division (Ferro Alloys / Submerged Arc Furnace plant) covers high-capacity electrical networks, furnace operations, and team leadership.Position OverviewRole Title: Senior Manager / AGM (Electrical) – Ferro DivisionDepartment: Electrical Maintenance, Operations & ProjectsIndustry: Ferro Alloys / Metals / Heavy EngineeringReporting To: General Manager (Works) / Plant HeadExperience Required: 10 to 15 years of heavy industrial plant experience, specifically in a Ferro Alloy or Steel manufacturing unit.Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.Key Responsibilities1. Furnace & Core Equipment Electrical MaintenanceManage and supervise the electrical performance of Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF), furnace transformers, and tap-changer control systems.Oversee electrode regulation and control systems to ensure stable arc and optimal power input.Maintain High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) power distribution networks, switchgear, ACB/VCB panels, and heavy-duty motors.2. Utilities & Auxiliary Systems ManagementEnsure smooth operation and upkeep of critical utility systems including Pump Houses, cooling water systems, and ventilation/exhaust setups.Monitor and maintain Fume Extraction Systems (FES), ID/FD fans, damper drives, and bag filter electrical controls.3. Preventive Maintenance & ReliabilityFormulate and execute Preventive, Predictive, and Breakdown Maintenance schedules to ensure maximum equipment uptime.Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major electrical breakdowns to prevent recurrence.Manage critical spare parts inventory, monitor Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and optimize maintenance costs.4. Energy & Power ManagementMonitor electrical load parameters, voltage fluctuations, and power factor correction to optimize power consumption and reduce specific energy costs.Coordinate with state utilities or central plant power distribution cells for safe load management and power reliability.5. Automation, PLC, and InstrumentationOversee PLC, SCADA, and drive systems (VFDs, soft starters) linked with process automation.Ensure proper calibration and healthiness of protection relays, metering devices, and interlocks.6. Safety, Statutory, and ComplianceEnforce strict compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, and standard factory regulations.Conduct routine safety audits of substations, panels, and shop floors.7. Leadership & AdministrationLead a shift-based team of electrical engineers, supervisors, and technicians.Plan manpower deployment, skill training programs, and performance appraisals.Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (like SAP PM) for logging work orders and tracking history.

Required skills
