A Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Mechanical is a senior techno-commercial leadership role responsible for overseeing plant mechanical operations, heavy equipment reliability, and maintenance strategies in heavy industries like steel, DRI (sponge iron), or manufacturing.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Reliability: Lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for heavy machinery like rotary kilns, coolers, crushers, and conveyors.Project Execution: Manage mechanical erection, equipment installation, and plant commissioning for expansions or upgrades.Shutdown Planning: Plan and execute scheduled annual shutdowns safely and within strict budget limits.Team Leadership: Mentor mechanical engineers and technicians to drive performance and safety compliance.Vendor & Cost Management: Negotiate vendor contracts, optimize spare parts inventory, and control operating costs.
