About this role

A Mechanical Manager in ferro alloys (steel manufacturing) leads plant-wide mechanical maintenance and reliability for equipment like Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF). They develop preventive maintenance schedules, drive equipment uptime, minimize downtime, and oversee teams to ensure safe, efficient daily smelting and production operations. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Reliability: Develop and execute comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance for Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF), electrode handling systems, hydraulic tilting mechanisms, and crusher/screener plants. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor mechanical engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure shop-floor productivity. Budgeting & Cost Control: Manage departmental budgets, optimize resource allocation, and control inventory for critical mechanical spares. Troubleshooting: Diagnose root causes of mechanical failures and implement swift corrective actions to achieve target plant uptime. Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict occupational health and safety protocols (OSHA) and environmental standards.

Required skills

Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering). Experience: 5 to 10+ years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a ferro-alloys or heavy steel manufacturing plant. Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of heavy-duty equipment including rotary kilns, raw material handling, hydraulic systems, and water-cooling systems.
