About this role
Operate and monitor the CCM (Continuous Casting Machine) from the Steel Melting Shop control room.
Monitor casting parameters such as casting speed, temperature, mould level, water flow and steel level.
Control and monitor tundish, mould, secondary cooling and withdrawal systems.
Ensure smooth and continuous casting operations as per production requirements.
Monitor process alarms, equipment conditions and take corrective action when required.
Coordinate with Melting Shop, CCM Field Operators, Maintenance and Quality teams.
Maintain proper casting sequence and minimize production interruptions.
Monitor billet quality and identify abnormalities during casting.
Maintain shift-wise production and process records.
Follow SOP, safety procedures and quality standards.
Handle emergency situations such as breakout, nozzle choking and casting interruptions as per SOP
Required skills
Strong knowledge of CCM operation and control room operations Knowledge of casting speed, mould level & steel temperature control Understanding of tundish, mould, secondary cooling & withdrawal system Ability to monitor and control CCM process parameters Knowledge of SOP and casting sequence Ability to identify and respond to breakout, nozzle choking & casting abnormalities Basic knowledge of billet quality and defect identification Good coordination with SMS, Field Operators, Maintenance & Quality teams Ability to handle emergency situations Good observation and decision-making skills Accurate shift-wise production and process reporting Knowledge of PPE, safety procedures & 5S Willingness to work in rotational shifts

Hands-on experience in CCM Control Room / SBO Operations Strong knowledge of Continuous Casting Process Experience with Mould Level, Casting Speed & Superheat Control Knowledge of Tundish, Mould, Secondary Cooling & Withdrawal System Ability to monitor SCADA/DCS control systems Knowledge of CCM automation and process parameters Experience in handling Breakout, Nozzle Choking & Casting Emergencies Knowledge of Billet Quality, Casting Defects & Process Control Strong coordination with SMS, Maintenance, Quality & Field Operators Good troubleshooting and decision-making skills Knowledge of SOP, 5S, Safety & Quality Standards Comfortable working in rotational shifts Steel plant / SMS-CCM experience preferred
