About this role
We are looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Hydra Operator to operate mobile hydraulic cranes (Hydra) for material handling, lifting, loading, unloading, shifting, and positioning of heavy equipment and materials within the plant premises.
The operator will be responsible for the safe operation, daily inspection, basic maintenance, and proper handling of the Hydra, while strictly following plant safety procedures, lifting plans, and instructions from the Fleet/Automobile and Operations teams.
Required skills
Strictly follow the approved lifting procedure and plant safety rules. Never exceed the rated lifting capacity of the Hydra. Never lift a load with an unknown weight. Never stand or allow anyone to stand under a suspended load. Maintain a safe exclusion zone around lifting operations. Never operate the Hydra without proper visibility or communication with the signalman. Do not use damaged slings, shackles, hooks, chains, or lifting accessories. Ensure the crane is on stable ground before lifting.
Good to have
Proficient in safe operation of Hydra/mobile hydraulic cranes. Good understanding of load charts, lifting capacity, boom radius, and safe working load (SWL). Knowledge of rigging, slings, shackles, hooks, chains, and lifting accessories. Ability to understand and follow standard hand signals from riggers/signalmen. Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, brakes, steering, and electrical systems. Ability to conduct daily pre-start inspections and identify equipment defects. Knowledge of preventive maintenance and timely reporting of breakdowns. Strong awareness of lifting safety, PPE, exclusion zones, and plant traffic rules. Good coordination with Fleet, Automobile, Maintenance, Operations, Rigger, and Safety teams.
