About this role
Responsible for monitoring and operating electrical equipment and material-handling systems from the RM-2 control/pulpit station, ensuring smooth and safe operation of conveyors, feeders, motors, crushers, screens, and associated equipment. The operator coordinates with field operators and electrical/mechanical maintenance teams during normal operation, abnormalities, and breakdowns.
Required skills
Relevant experience in DRI, Sponge Iron, Steel Plant, Raw Material Handling, or Heavy Industry preferred. Experience in operating electrical control panels, MCCs, PLC/HMI-based systems, or control pulpit operations is an advantage. Basic knowledge of motors, MCCs, contactors, relays, VFDs, feeders, conveyors, crushers, screens, and electrical protection systems. Knowledge of electrical parameters such as voltage, current, power, frequency, and motor load. Ability to understand alarms, interlocks, trips, and basic PLC/HMI indications. Good understanding of equipment start/stop sequences. Basic troubleshooting and fault-identification skills. Knowledge of electrical safety, PPE, LOTO, and work-permit systems. Ability to coordinate effectively with field operators and maintenance teams
Good to have
Experience in RMH/Raw Material Handling systems. Knowledge of conveyor systems, belt feeders, vibrating feeders, crushers, screens, and associated electrical drives. Familiarity with PLC, SCADA/HMI, MCC, VFD, soft starter, and motor protection systems. Ability to identify electrical faults from HMI alarms and panel indications. Good understanding of equipment interlocks and permissive logic. Strong observation and decision-making skills. Good communication and teamwork. Ability to respond quickly during electrical trips and plant emergencies. Safety-conscious and disciplined approach. Accurate logbook and shift-reporting skills.
