About this role
Conduct metallurgical testing and analysis of raw materials, billets, steel products, and finished materials.
Monitor chemical composition and mechanical properties of materials.
Perform material testing such as hardness, tensile strength, impact testing, and microstructure analysis.
Analyze test results and prepare detailed metallurgical reports.
Ensure products meet specified quality standards and customer requirements.
Coordinate with Production and Quality teams to identify and resolve material-related issues.
Monitor heat treatment, casting, rolling, and other metallurgical processes.
Investigate defects such as cracks, inclusions, porosity, and abnormal microstructure.
Maintain laboratory equipment, testing records, and quality documentation.
Support process improvement and reduction of material rejection/rework.
Ensure compliance with applicable quality and safety standards.
Required skills
Good knowledge of Metallurgy, Material Science, and Steel Manufacturing. Knowledge of chemical and mechanical testing. Understanding of steel grades and alloy composition. Knowledge of heat treatment and microstructure. Root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills. Good documentation and reporting skills. Knowledge of MS Excel and laboratory instruments. Good coordination with Production and Quality teams.
