SR. ELECTRICAL

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of plant electrical systems. The role focuses on minimizing equipment breakdowns, ensuring uninterrupted power supply, improving equipment reliability, and maintaining electrical safety standards. Typical steel-plant responsibilities include HT/LT systems, transformers, switchgear, motors, MCC/PCC panels, VFDs, PLC/SCADA and power distribution systems. Key Responsibilities Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment. Maintain HT/LT panels, switchgear, transformers, MCC, PCC, DBs and distribution systems. Troubleshoot and maintain AC/DC motors, starters, contactors, relays and control panels. Handle VFD/drive systems and identify electrical faults quickly. Monitor PLC, SCADA and industrial automation systems and coordinate troubleshooting. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of repeated electrical failures and implement corrective actions. Supervise installation, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment. Read and interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, wiring diagrams and control circuits. Monitor substation operations, power distribution, electrical load and equipment parameters. Ensure proper earthing, insulation testing, protection systems and electrical interlocks. Lead electrical maintenance teams, electricians and technicians during routine and breakdown activities. Coordinate with Mechanical, Instrumentation, Production and Projects departments. Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, checklists and breakdown reports. Ensure availability of critical electrical spares and coordinate with stores/purchase teams. Follow LOTO, PTW, PPE and other electrical safety procedures. Support energy-saving initiatives, power-factor improvement and reduction of electrical losses. Participate in shutdown planning and major maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety rules and plant standards.
