PRODUCTION MANAGER SMS

Job Description: We are looking for an experienced Production Manager – SMS to manage and supervise steel melting shop operations, production planning, manpower, quality, safety, and process efficiency. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth and continuous production of quality steel through effective control of melting, refining, casting, and related SMS operations. The role requires strong knowledge of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)/Induction Furnace (IF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), Continuous Casting Machine (CCM), raw material handling, temperature control, slag management, alloy addition, and steel quality control. Key Responsibilities: Plan and control daily, weekly, and monthly SMS production targets. Supervise complete steel melting and casting operations. Monitor Induction Furnace/EAF, LRF, CCM, and associated equipment. Control charge mix, melting cycle, temperature, slag condition, and alloy additions. Ensure proper process parameters for achieving required steel grades. Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, and Production teams. Monitor CCM operation, casting speed, tundish management, mould level, and billet quality. Minimize rejection, rework, metal loss, downtime, and production losses. Ensure proper utilization of raw materials, alloys, refractories, and consumables. Analyze production data and prepare daily/monthly production reports. Implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce operating costs. Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, SOPs, and environmental requirements. Lead and train operators, supervisors, and SMS manpower. Investigate process abnormalities and take corrective actions. Maintain proper housekeeping and discipline in the SMS area. Coordinate planned and breakdown maintenance to minimize equipment downtime. Ensure production activities meet required quality and delivery schedules. Diploma in Metallurgy/Mechanical may be considered with relevant experience. Significant experience in SMS/steel plant production operations preferred. Practical knowledge of melting, refining, casting, and steel quality control is required. Strong leadership and manpower-handling experience preferred.
