About this role

Supervise daily production activities in the Ferro Alloys Plant. Monitor furnace operations, raw material charging and alloy production. Coordinate with furnace operators, helpers and control room operators. Ensure production targets and product quality standards are achieved. Monitor furnace temperature, power consumption and operating parameters. Ensure proper handling and availability of raw materials. Coordinate with electrical and mechanical maintenance teams during breakdowns. Maintain daily production reports, shift logs and manpower records. Ensure workers follow safety procedures and use the required PPE. Report production issues, equipment abnormalities and safety concerns to senior management.

Required skills

Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) Operations: Hands-on knowledge of furnace charging, electrode management, tapping operations, and metal casting for products like Silico Manganese and Ferro Manganese. Machinery & Equipment Oversight: Understanding of mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, cooling water circuits, and heavy material handling equipment. Electrical & Control Systems: Basic ability to monitor control panels, transformers, HT/LT switchgears, and troubleshoot minor electrical or automation glitches during a shift. Quality Control: Monitoring raw material mixes (quartz, manganese ore, coke) to maintain product grade specifications. 🛡️ 2. Safety & Compliance Skills Industrial Safety Enforcement: Strict adherence to high-temperature and electrical safety protocols, fire safety, and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by shift workers. Emergency Handling: Quick decision-making capabilities during equipment breakdowns, power fluctuations, or hazardous shop-floor situations. Logkeeping & Compliance: Maintaining daily shift logs, production output registers, raw material consumption logs, and safety audit checklists. 👥 3. Supervisory & Leadership Skills Shift Team Management: Directing and coordinating a team of operators, technicians, and contract laborers across rotational shifts to meet daily production targets. Communication & Coordination: Conducting pre-shift safety "toolbox talks," passing clear shift-handover notes to incoming supervisors, and bridging communication between management and the floor. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnosing production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, or labor alignment issues on the shop floor.
