About this role
Assist in preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery.
Inspect and maintain pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, compressors and other mechanical equipment.
Identify mechanical faults and support troubleshooting activities.
Monitor equipment performance and minimize machinery downtime.
Assist in installation, alignment, commissioning and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Coordinate with production, electrical and instrumentation teams.
Maintain daily maintenance reports, equipment history and inspection records.
Follow maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure compliance with industrial safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Support senior engineers during plant shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
Required skills
Mechanical Maintenance of Heavy Assets: Hands-on knowledge or oversight of industrial machinery common to steel and ferroalloy plants, such as crushing and screening units, material handling conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, and heavy industrial blowers. Engineering Drawing & CAD: Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical assembly drawings, isometric piping diagrams, plant layouts, and basic use of CAD tools (like AutoCAD or SolidWorks) for modification or fabrication work. Utility & Power Plant Equipment (If applicable): Understanding of auxiliary systems such as cooling water towers, compressed air compressors, or basic familiarity with boiler and turbine balance-of-plant (BOP) machinery.
