PLASMA MACHINE OPERATOR

Machine Setup & Operation: Setup, calibrate, and operate CNC plasma cutting equipment (and associated gas/oxy-fuel torches if required) safely and efficiently. Load CAD/CAM nesting files into the machine controller and verify cutting paths. Parameter Management: Adjust operational parameters such as cutting speed, amperage, arc voltage, gas pressure (oxygen, nitrogen, compressed air), and torch height control (THC) based on the material type and thickness. Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication blueprints, and dimensions to verify output component precision. Material & Quality Management: Coordinate with material handlers to load steel/metal plates onto the cutting bed using overhead cranes or loaders. Inspect finished components using measuring instruments (vernier calipers, tape measures, gauges) for dimensional accuracy and edge quality. Optimize layout and nesting to minimize scrap and maximize metal plate utilization. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine daily checks, pre- and post-shift maintenance, and clean slag/debris from the cutting table. Inspect and replace machine consumables (nozzles, electrodes, shields) proactively. Troubleshoot minor error codes, torch alignment problems, or cutting faults. Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow plant safety guidelines, wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE—welding shields, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots). Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workstation.
