About this role
Machine Setup & Alignment:
Align web and flange plates accurately on the machine bed using guide rollers and hydraulic clamping systems.
Set up welding heads, ground connections, and wire feeds for the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) process.
Parameter Configuration & Operation:
Input and adjust operational parameters via the PLC / HMI panel (such as welding current/amperage, arc voltage, and pull-through travel speed) according to material thickness.
Monitor the continuous automated welding run to ensure smooth, uniform bead formation without arc breaks.
Flux & Wire Management:
Monitor and manage the continuous wire feed mechanisms and electrode spools.
Operate and maintain the flux recovery system to recycle unspent flux and clear slag effectively.
Quality & Inspection:
Inspect finished H/I-beams for correct alignment, dimensional accuracy, lack of distortion, and flawless weld penetration/bead profile.

Required skills
Machine Operation & Setup: Hands-on experience operating a Pull-Through Welding (PTW) machine or automated SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) gantry lines. Welding Parameters Control: Ability to manage and adjust welding current (e.g., 1200A systems), voltage, travel speed, and wire feed speeds to ensure strong, defect-free structural welds. Blueprint & Drawing Reading: Capability to read structural fabrication drawings, check H-beam dimensions, web-to-flange alignment, and fit-ups. Material Handling & Rigging: Safe handling of heavy steel profiles, plates, and beams using EOT (Electric Overhead Traveling) cranes or material handling equipment. Quality & Troubleshooting: Monitoring flux delivery, cleaning slag, detecting welding irregularities (porosity, burn-through), and performing basic troubleshooting on welding heads and drive rolls.
