About this role
Assist in day-to-day stores and purchase activities.
Prepare and maintain purchase orders, material requests and purchase records.
Collect quotations from vendors and prepare comparative statements.
Follow up with suppliers for material delivery and pending orders.
Assist in receiving, checking and recording incoming materials.
Maintain GRN, stock records, issue slips and inventory documentation.
Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Accounts, Maintenance and Production departments.
Monitor stock levels and material requirements.
Assist with vendor communication and documentation.
Update purchase and inventory data in ERP/Tally/SAP.
Support physical stock verification and reconciliation.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly purchase and stock reports.
Required skills
1. Core Purchase & Procurement Skills Vendor Coordination & Quotations: Ability to source suppliers, send inquiries, collect quotations, and prepare comparative statements for raw materials (steel plates, structural sections, fasteners) and consumables (welding electrodes, gases, machine spares). Purchase Order (PO) Processing: Skill in drafting, issuing, and tracking Purchase Orders based on authorized indent requests. Negotiation & Cost Awareness: Basic understanding of market pricing, delivery timelines, and payment terms to assist in cost-effective procurement. 2. Storekeeping & Inventory Management Material Receipt & Inspection: Receiving incoming shipments, verifying physical quantities against the delivery challan, vendor invoice, and Purchase Order, and checking for damage. Stock Tracking & Bin Management: Maintaining organized storage yards and warehouses (handling heavy structural steel, plates, and machine parts), ensuring proper identification, labeling, and FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory movement. ERP / Inventory Software: Familiarity with computerized inventory software or ERP systems (like SAP, Tally, or custom modules) for inward/outward entry and stock ledger updates.
