About this role
Inventory Management: Oversee the receiving, storage, and issuance of steel raw materials, consumable stores, and finished goods, managing daily inward/outward movement.
Supervision: Lead warehouse staff (clerks, loaders) to maintain an organized, clean, and safe storage environment.
Material Control: Perform material inspection for quality and quantity against purchase orders and dispatch documents, handling raw material unloading and storage.
Documentation: Maintain accurate physical and digital stock registers, ensuring timely entries of GRN (Goods Received Note), MRN (Material Received Note), and LIFO/FIFO tracking.
Auditing: Conduct regular stock physical verification (audits) to reconcile physical inventory with system records.
Reporting: Prepare and submit daily/weekly inventory status reports and stock analysis to management.
Coordination: Coordinate with procurement and production departments to ensure uninterrupted supply and stock replenishment.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations, ensuring proper stacking and handling of steel, especially when managing lifting equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience: Proven experience as a Store Keeper or Supervisor, preferably in a steel plant, heavy fabrication unit, or manufacturing environment.
Education: High school diploma required; Diploma in Materials Management or related field preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/inventory management software.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel materials (profiles, plates, scrap) and warehousing safety procedures.
Abilities: High attention to detail, inventory accuracy, and leadership ability.
Required skills
Raw Material & Scrap Management: Experience handling heavy raw materials common in steel plants, such as Sponge Iron, Pig Iron, Scrap, Ferro Alloys, and Billets, along with weighing bridge operations (inbound/outbound truck load tracking). Engineering Spares & Consumables (MRO): Expertise in managing and cataloging high-turnover plant spares (refractories, rollers, bearings, gears, electrodes, hydraulic oil, welding rods, and electrical panels). Stock Auditing & Control: Conducting regular physical stock audits (FIFO/LIFO methods), maintaining zero variance between physical and system inventory, and preventing material pilferage or damage.
