Production & Operations Management
Oversee the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of high-capacity Submerged Arc Furnaces (typically 9 MVA to 33 MVA+ ranges) specialized in Ferro Silicon smelting.
Monitor daily production targets, furnace power consumption, specific energy consumption (SEC), and recovery rates of Silicon.
Manage raw material charging sequences, burden mix ratios, and batching accuracy to maintain stable furnace burden permeability and electrical load.
Technical & Electrical Control
Monitor critical electrical parameters including electrode current, voltage, impedance, and power factor to prevent electrode breakage, electrode slips, and furnace blowing or bridging.
Oversee electrode management, including casing addition, baking, nipple tightening, and timely electrode slipping operations.
Collaborate closely with the electrical and instrumentation teams to maintain transformer health, PLC/SCADA systems, and furnace hydraulic control circuits.
Required skills
Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) Expertise: In-depth understanding of high-MVA SAF design, operation, and electro-chemistry specific to Ferro Silicon production (which operates at much higher reduction temperatures than Ferro Manganese). Electrical Parameter Management: Proficiency in monitoring and tuning furnace electricals—including electrode current, secondary voltage, active/reactive power, impedance, and power factor to prevent furnace instability, blowing, or bridging. Electrode & Burden Management: Hands-on knowledge of electrode regulation, slipping, casing welding, baking schedules, and optimizing burden mix ratios (quartz, reducing agents like charcoal/coke, and iron scrap). Tap-Hole & Casting Operations: Expertise in safe tap-hole opening/closing protocols, oxygen lancing, casting floor management, and avoiding moisture-related explosion risks near molten silicon.
